Balblair is owned by the InverHouse distillers, which was bought by Robert ‘Bertie’ Cumming in 1948 after years of staying under the radar. Bertie expanded and modernised the distillery with a modern visitor centre that offers an excellent tour highlighting the distillery's role in Ken Loach’s 2012 movie ‘The Angels’ Share’. Balblair is also committed to reducing its ecological footprint and has changed from oil to gas, perhaps marking a new era for distilleries around the world, now who wouldn’t want to take part in this historic and remarkable change? This 11 year old has the scent of citrus and pear upon opening, then followed by honey, vanilla and oats, the palate is malt, white pepper, vanilla and citrus with a medium long finish of citrus, vanilla and dusty pepper.
